I’m introducing ‘Tenzankaku Haihai Yokocho’, the local izakaya bar in Uehonmachi in Osaka. I enjoyed the typical izakaya nibbles, such as yakitori, tempura and kushiage at reasonable prices.

The local izakaya bar ‘Tenzankaku Haihai Yokocho’ in Uehonmachi!

Hi, this is Waka Ossan from Osaka. I went out with my friend who had been away in Tokyo for a while. We picked Uehonmachi near Namba, and we decided to drink in ‘Tenzankaku Haihai Yokocho’ within the shopping mall called ‘Uehonmachi Haihai Town’.

Haihai Town is considered as a sacred zone for mid-aged men for a number of good bars. ‘Tenzankaku’ is one of the most popular ones there. It’s because of the longest bar counter, 33m!

This bar has been introduced in many famous blogs and every Osaka foodies would know about it. It seems to have become popular among tourists as well.

This is the famous long long counter. It’s certainly long! lol

Here is the menu. The items like yakitori, salads, seared fish, tempura and other nibbles are all around ¥250. It’s great that they are all in an affordable price range.

To start with, we ordered a bottle of beer and doteyaki (stewed beef tendon in miso and mirin).

The beer can’t taste any better when your friend pour it in.

It was a hot day, and I didn't hesitate to drink up the first glass.

Doteyaki here was delicious with the good fresh beef tendon!

I loved it and it was satisfying with a full meaty flavor.

The person next to us was eating inviting potato wedges, so we had to get them as well! lol

They were perfect with the beer.

Yakitori! We had 2 kinds; one with pieces of chicken thigh and the other is chicken liver.

They didn’t taste like expensive Yakitori, but they had a tasty rich sauce that went really well with the beer.

This is dashimaki tamago. It’s a Japanese rolled omelet with dashi stock in it.

It has a soft fluffy texture and it’s a must try.

The taste of dashi is certainly there. Tasty!

We tried kushikatsu, too.

Quail eggs, meat, onion...they are all deep-fried and crispy.

They can’t go wrong.

We also ordered dried squid tempura.

It had a good amount for the value.

Between two of us, we had 2 bottles of beer and 2 glasses of chūhai, which was ¥3460 in total.

That worked out to be ¥1730 each and it was very reasonable! We discovered and experienced the sacred place for mid-aged men where you can relax and drink cheap at a good pace. It was great!

I would recommend this good reasonable izakaya if you’d like to experience an authentic local bar.
