Enjoy the Super Sized Yakitori at the Tenkatori Nikushin in Fukuoka!

One of the must-eats in Fukuoka prefecture is Fukuoka style yakitori. In this article, we introduce “Tenkatori Nikushin,” a yakitori restaurant that offers cheap, big, and delicious yakitori.

Tonkotsu ramen, motsu nabe, and mentaiko… Fukuoka has many specialties that are unique to the area, which both Japanese and non-Japanese tourists admire. But don’t forget, Fukuoka is also famous for their “yakitori.”

Today, we had a big party with our family and friends at this yakitori restaurant called “Tenkatori Nikushin Main Store,” located the so called “Hirao” area of Chuo-ku, Fukuoka city.

It is a 3 minute walk from Nishitetsu Hirao Station. It’s a great location.

The dinner started with “otoshi” (Japanese izakaya style appetizer) and edamame.

We brought our kids to the restaurant, but we were surprised to see how many kids were in this Fukuoka izakaya on the weekend.

Of course it was early in the evening, but this kind of culture doesn’t really exist in Kansai. (The general opinion is that it is not good to take your kids to izakayas)

Of course we had beer from the tap to start off! But this picture was taken after we had many drinks. Haha! Such a happy moment.

We started our yakitori with “kawa” (skin).
It is so delicious how they put sweet sauce on the crispy part.If you go to a yakitori place in Fukuoka, you must have it.

By the way, the pile of cabbage on the left is another characteristic of yakitori places in Fukuoka.

The nutrition balance is great, and it tastes so awesome and refreshing when you dip your cabbage in the rich yakitori sauce a little bit, it’s the best. It is good to eat them in this order: cabbage, yakitori, cabbage, yakitori….

French fries are everyone’s favorite including kids!We always order something like this, don’t we?
It’s junk food but delicious.

Girls love salads. We ordered the Daikon Salad.

It was delicious and refreshing.

Then we ordered liver.
It was an extremely rich, creamy and awesome.

There was a chicken heart on the tip, which takes a role of a stopper for the yakitori’s bamboo stick.
This has a different feel in the mouth and tasted good.

We ordered Yotsumi as well. “Yotsumi” is a name only used in Fukuoka, which means chicken meat cut into a square shape. They usually use chicken thigh and breast meat.
Each piece is so big.

Can you tell from the pictures? Ah, it was so good!

If you go to a Fukuoka yakitori place, you must order this as well. It’s the juicy and heavey “butabara”!
The juice was overflowing! Couldn’t be better!

A glass of whiskey and soda was perfect for such greasy food.
We washed all our food down.

We had other food and drinks as well and were so full.

The bill was 11,010 yen for three adults and two kids. Considering how it was an izakaya, how much food we had, and how satisfied we were frm the food, it is extremely cheap. It is a great deal, totally worth a visit.

It was delicious!
