Going To Kyushu From Osaka? Why Not To Try Hankyu Ferry! ~Boading & Facilities~

This is about my adventure to Shin-Moji Port in Fukuoka Prefecture from Izumiotsu Port in Osaka. I took a ferry called Izumi.

We decided to take a trip to Fukuoka Prefecture from our home in Osaka in this summer! We took a ferry instead of an airplane or a Shinkansen (a bullet train).

IZUMI Connects Osaka And Kyushu

We are going to get on board the brand-new ferry called IZUMI. It has started into service since January 2015! IZUMI connects between Izumiotsu Port in Osaka and Shin-Moji Port in Fukuoka Prefecture (Fukuoka Prefecture is one of the prefectures in Kyushu).

We reserved a room called a Deluxe Wayo-shitsu (Japanese and Western-style). We also brought our car (within 4m long), too!

Fee, Route, and Approx Time

We are two adults, one Elementary School child, and one toddler. I made reservation via internet, and it cost us 36,660 yen for all of us, including our car! It’s not bad at all, is it?

The fee depends on the seasons, rooms, numbers of people, etc. If you reserve a shared room in off-season, it might be around 5,000 yen per person without a car.

It took us approximately 12 hours and 30 minutes. We left Izumiotsu Port at 5:30pm and arrived Shin-Moji Port at 6am on the next day. Yes it takes much longer than taking an airplane or Shinkansen, but you can sleep while IZUMI is moving.

Many cars were lined up and waiting for getting on board… How awesome is this car ferry!!

Let’s Look Inside of IZUMI

5-7th floors are for passengers.

I was amazed how clean inside of it...

Our room was OH-SO clean and comfortable! I will show it later on the next article.

Can you believe it is inside of the ferry?

The lobby has a stage and musicians were getting ready for their concert!

There’s also a kiosk far in the picture.

We enjoyed its open feeling and cleanliness so much.

This is exclusive on the ferry... You cannot feel the same on the airplane or Shinkansen!

It is like a moving hotel.

There are some arcade games available!

You wouldn’t get bored.

Of course the ferry has kids space as well.

Both adults and kids can have fun while you are on the ferry.

A picture below is when the ferry went through under Akashi Kaikyo Bridge.

This is another exclusive thing that you can enjoy only if you take a ferry!

It was beautiful.

Well, I couldn’t take pictures, but there’s a large hot bath inside of IZUMI. Oh, did I say “inside”? ...I take it back. There are hot tubs inside and out!

Can you imagine how wonderful you feel by soaking yourself in an outside hot tub...on the ferry!! You can enjoy starry sky and illumination…

You can use hot water as much as you want, just like regular Onsen (hot spring) or public bath. I almost forgot I was on the ferry…

Arriving At Shin-Moji Port in Fukuoka

Getting closer to the port… I saw Meimon-Taiyo’s ferry from the window.

I heard Meimon-Taiyo Ferry Co., LTD is planning to have another brand-new ferry.

Hankyu Ferry and Meimon-Taiyo are big rivalry, but I want to board thier new ferry too!

The picture below is an another ferry called Ocean East which is owned by Ocean Tokyu Ferry CO., LTD. This ferry goes from Tokyo to Kita (north) Kyushu via Tokushima Prefecture. It must be a long journey...
