Even The Cat Can Do, Why Not You? Cook Japanese Food At Home (2) Potato Pancake

This article shows the recipe of potato pancake. Let’s see how the cat cooks!

This is the second recipe the cat shows us how to cook! In this time, the cat shows how to make sweet potato pancake. It is easy to make and it is perfect for breakfast!

Ugh, Mr. cat, are you ready to show us how to make it...?

“So... I feel making potato pancake today!”

“No mistakes… I’ll do my best! ”

”Here’s what I use!”

  • Ingredients (serve 1)
    • 1 small sweet potato (110g)
    • 100g flour
    • 2 teaspoons sugar
    • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
    • 120ml milk
    • 1 egg
    • splash of vegitable oil
    • dash of vanilla oil

“Mix flour and baking powder together.”

”Cut sweet potato into cubes and soak in water.”

That is all, easy...right?

Let’s Cook!

Make Batter

“Beat an egg and add milk and vanilla oil.”

Mix them well until it becomes smooth without lumps.

“Pour the mixture into the bowl of flour and baking powder and mix.”

”Pour it little by little…”

Mix it until it become silky smooth!

“Add some vegitable oil into the mixture”

Adding vegitable oil instead of butter is healthier!

”Whew meow!”

Batter is ready!

Batter needs somerest… Let’s put it in the fridge for 30 minutes.

While it is resting, let’s get potato ready.

Get cubed potato out of water and put it in the microwave for 2-3 minutes.

“Heat it until it gets softened…”

”Meoooow it gets fluffy!”

Make Some Toppings (Optional)

”Make some yummy topping while the batter is resting!”

“Mix cream cheese and almond praline (roasted almond dressed with caramelized sugar)”

”Of course the pancake goes well with simply butter and/or whipped cream!”

”Mix the batter and the cubed sweet potato…”

“Let’s cook it! Keep the stove top in low heat.”

”When bubbles come on the surface and the edge is cooked…”

Let’s Eat!

Mmm it looks good…!!

Put the topping on top and pour some honey….

“Let’s eat...meow!”

Mr. cat enjoys the pancake he just made!
Mr. cat says it serves one, but it could be two…

Of course you can make it without sweet potato as regular pancake.

I personally prefer to use dry yeast and meringue, but I guess it is too much work to do for the cat to make pancakes...hahaha

Thank you Mr. Cat! See you guys soon!
