Gifu Prefecture is located in the central district in Japan. It is a mountaneous area surrounded by Hida Mountains, known as Northern Alps. You can still embrace Japan's rustic countryside there. Historic village 'Shirakawa-go' is registered as the World Heritage site and is very famous for its steep Gassho architectual style. To get there, it is convenient to catch a highway bus from either Takayama Station in Gifu Prefecture or Nagoya Station in Aichi Prefecture. Gifu City and Ogaki City are the top two most populated cities in Gifu prefecture.
