The Meiji Restoration is one of the most interesting events in Japanese history. This event began during the twilight years of the Edo period, but the term is loosely defined. During this epoch, the Tokugawa Shogunate had ended and the country was beginning to open up to the world. More importantly, sovereignty was handed over to Emperor Meiji and Samurai were not rulers anymore. Japan's modernisation was rapidly settling in all over the land, and it brought revolutionary change into many industries.
