Yokocho, means “side street” in Japanese, and refers to narrow alleyways in a village or city. There are famous ones such as Ameya Yokocho in Ueno, and Omoide Yokocho in Shinjuku. You can often find Ramen shops and other little stores in these small passageways. You might also see an animal or two, like a cat. When you visit Japan, visit the Yokocho in your area for a memorable experience.
